What It Does Today
Two lists, kept apart on purpose. The first is in the web app now. The second is planned and not available yet.
In the App Now
Sign In Without a Password
Use a link sent to your email address, or a provider you already have: Apple, Google or Microsoft. There is no account password to remember.
Encrypted Tallies With Emoji Names
Name a tally and give it an emoji, a note and a unit. The name, the emoji, the note and the count are encrypted on your device before anything is sent.
Add, Subtract, Undo, Set
Add one, take one away, add a custom amount, undo the last change, or set the count to a number directly. The count is the biggest thing on the screen.
History
Every change is an event in the tally’s history, so you can see how a count got where it is.
Folders, Tags and Search
Put tallies in folders, and folders inside folders. Move, reorder and rename them, add tags, and search by name or tag. Four built-in smart folders gather tallies for you, such as the archived ones. Folder names are encrypted like tally names.
Goals, Schedules and Streaks
Give a tally a target to count toward, a schedule that resets each day or week in the time zone you pick, and a streak that grows with every period you keep up.
Timers and Calculated Tallies
Start and stop a timer to record sessions, or make a tally whose value is worked out from other tallies, such as a ratio of two counts.
Quick Tally
One tally, one big target, nothing else on the screen. It keeps counting without a connection and shows how many changes are waiting to sync.
Charts
A line, bars and a calendar heatmap for each tally, covering recent days, periods and weeks. Every chart comes with a table of the same numbers.
Themes and Theme Studio
Pick any of the seventeen themes, in light, dark or matched to your system. In Theme Studio, start from one and change its colors, corners and number font; the app refuses to save a theme whose text would be hard to read. Themes you make sync to your other devices as encrypted data.
Protected Items
Mark a tally or a folder as protected and this device hides its name, emoji, count and history until you unlock again with your passphrase or passkey. It stays open for five minutes. This hides the item on the screen; it uses the same encryption as the rest of your vault, not an additional layer.
Discover Templates
Twenty ready-made starting points in five categories. Pick one and it becomes a tally of your own, encrypted like any other.
Lock and Auto-Lock
Lock the vault with one button. It also locks itself after a stretch without use, for a length of time you choose, and unlocking takes your passphrase or, where the browser supports it, a passkey.
Recovery Key
Setup shows a recovery key once and asks you to save it. It is the way back in on a new device, and nobody else holds a copy. You can check a saved key or replace it in Settings. The new key takes the place of the old one, which then no longer restores your vault on a new device. Replacing a key does not re-encrypt your vault, so it is not a remedy if someone already holds both your old key and a copy of your vault data.
Sync Between Devices
Sign in on another device, restore with your recovery key, and your tallies, folders and themes arrive there. If two devices change the same field, the app asks which one to keep.
Offline Use and Install
After you have opened the app once online, it opens without a connection, and changes wait on the device until you reconnect. Browsers that support it can install it to a home screen or dock.
Device List
Settings lists every device enrolled in your vault and lets you revoke one. Revoking stops that device from syncing; it does not erase what the device already downloaded.
Privacy Settings
A plain list of what the service can and cannot see, and one optional switch for product analytics. It is off unless you turn it on.
Import
Bring tallies in from a CSV or TSV file, an XLSX workbook, a JSON file, or a file this app exported. The file is read on your device and never uploaded, and what it becomes is encrypted like anything else you count. You see what will be created before anything is. A total becomes one starting entry; individual counts are never invented.
Export
Take your tallies out as a summary CSV, a CSV of every entry, or a JSON file other tools can read. These are plain files: once written, they are outside your vault and anyone who has the file can read it, and the app says so before it writes one. Protected items are left out unless you have unlocked them.
Encrypted Backup
One file holding everything an export does, encrypted on your device with a passphrase you choose, at least twelve characters long. It is separate from your vault keys and your recovery key. Without that passphrase nobody can open the file, and nobody can reset it for you.
Free Means Free
There are no paid tiers and no locked features. There are no ads, no advertising trackers, and your data is never sold. Reasonable limits protect the service from abuse; when you reach one, the app tells you which and why.
